Samsung always has something to surprise us with its out-of-box revealings, as they dedicatedly work to reveal the latest innovations. Also, at every launch event of its upcoming devices, they used to give a little hint of its upcoming transformation and the revolutionary innovation on which they worked.
No doubt Samsung have an incredible team of innovators who continuously reveals unimagined enhancement to the world in this fast pace of tech.
So here in this article, we specifically discuss on Samsung Galaxy S23 camera sensor as there’s a huge dilemma with respect to its sensor nowadays. Despite the fact that it’s the very early door to discuss it but there is so much excitement surrounding the upcoming handset among dying heart Galaxy S series fans.
A lot of rumours are being in the air from sometime back on ISOCELL HP1 and ISOCELL HP3 sensors. And before the twist of these two has taken a pause we have another new member to be added which is ISOCELL HP2.
Recent statements over ISOCELL HP1 and ISOCELL HP3 sensor
Before going into the depth of ISOCELL HP2, there is much to discuss regarding HP1 and HP3 respectively.
To be noted, the ISOCELL HP1 sensor was announced by the company back in September 2021 but has not appeared yet on any of the company’s devices. Also, it promises impressive low-light performance and all thanks to clever pixel-binning computational trickery called ChameleonCell technology. Check the Samsung statement over it.
“For ultimate low-light photography, the ISOCELL HP1 features an all-new ChameleonCell technology, a pixel-binning technology that uses a two-by-two, four-by-four or full pixel layout depending on the environment. In a low-lit environment, the HP1 transforms into a 12.5MP image sensor with large 2.56μm pixels by merging 16 neighboring pixels. The newly formed 2.56μm pixel is capable of more light absorption and sensitivity, producing brighter and clearer photos in in-doors or in the evening.”

As per the last leaks and rumours, the upcoming flagship Galaxy S23 series devices will see a major upgrade in the rear camera department. If it goes well, then we will see the 108MP HM3 sensor (1/1.33”, 0.8µm pixels) of the current model to a 200MP sensor (probably the HP1, 1/22”, 0.64µm). Out of various rumours, we have the tweet of the famous tipster Ice universe, have a look at it.

The mountain view tech giant has recent unveiling regarding ISOCELL HP3 200MP camera sensor by Samsung could have poured more water into that respective circulating rumours all around.
“Samsung has continuously led the image sensor market trend through its technology leadership in high resolution sensors with the smallest pixels,” said JoonSeo Yim, Executive Vice President of Sensor Business Team at Samsung Electronics. “With our latest and upgraded 0.56μm 200MP ISOCELL HP3, Samsung will push on to deliver epic resolutions beyond professional levels for smartphone camera users.”
Also, recently famous tipster Ice universe revealed in its tweet that ISOCELL HP3 sensors are not adopted by Galaxy S23, have a look at it below:

As per another piece of information coming recently, Samsung Electro-Mechanics will get 70% of orders for the new 200MP ISOCELL sensor. Namely, the Galaxy S23 could be the first Samsung device to use the 200MP ISOCELL HP3.
Mysterious ISOCELL HP2 sensor with 0.60μm pixels
And before ISOCELL HP1 and ISOCELL HP3 discussion take a space in the corner, rumours coming in regards to another very new ISOCELL HP2.
To be noted, the ISOCELL HP1 and HP3 have 0.64μm and 0.56μm pixels respectively. Now it has been speculated further that the ISOCELL HP2 sensor could come right in the middle with 0.60μm pixels. Also, it is predicted that Galaxy S23 Ultra is expected to feature this sensor in 2023.
Have a look at the Pixels of all three sensors:
- HP1 0.64μm
- HP2 0.60μm( predicted)
- HP3 0.56μm
And nevertheless, we are not very far from its 200MP discussion, while apparently, the company is considering envision to develop an even monstrous “Hexa2pixel” 450MP image sensor. Recently, it has been reported that the company has filed a new trademark for Hexa2pixel and was spotted on KIPRIS in South Korea. Now, speculations are now been popping up regarding the same.
Samsung wishes to surpass the human eye with a 576MP camera
Way back in April 2020, Samsung revealed that it wishes to surpass the capabilities of human eyes with a massive 576MP camera sensor. Usually, DSLR cameras offer 40MP resolution, while flagship smartphones with 12MP, however, the company wishes to make a 576MP smartphone camera reality.
