Recently, the company unveiled its fourth generation foldable devices which are Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 through unpacked event 2022. Now, reportedly Motorola has also launched its latest flip phone which is the Moto Razr (2022). Earlier, we have heard a lot of rumours about the same. And now all the previous rumours with respect to Motorola Flip phone as well as Xiaomi Fold phone are found true now.
Following the trendsetter, various OEMs are deliberately working to come up with foldable devices. Now Motorola stands out to be in the row in terms of foldable range. Now, Moto Razr (2022) in this way become the potential Galaxy Z Flip 4 competitor so far. Again, there are a lot of aspects which definitely play a vital role and which make one device a differentiator from the other one.
Samsung Foldable Trendsetter
Samsung being the trendsetter leads the market when it comes to foldable smartphones. Noticeably, its Galaxy Z Flip 3 was the best-selling foldable smartphone of the year 2021. And all credit goes to its combination of enhanced features, software support and to some extent having no competition.
Since Motorola doesn’t come up with a foldable phone last year alongside the other OEMs such as Oppo and Xiaomi, which tried to fill the gap with a foldable of their own. Also, they limited their phones to China market. All these factors define a clear-cut and easy victory for Galaxy Z Flip 3 success.

Motorola has done a substantial change in its flagship foldable design. The wide notch in the display is gone, along with the thick chin that too has been removed now. Whereas on the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is a refinement of the design with respect to its predecessor. Samsung sells its phone in Bora Purple, Graphite, Pink Gold and Blue. And with its Bespoke Studio, users can style their phones in several colour combinations of their choice. While the Razr 2022 is available in Black and white only. Therefore, Samsung provides more colour choices which definitely adds some points in front of its buyers who have more preference for colour elements.
Cover display and Refresh rate: Moto Razr 2022 vs Galaxy Z Flip 4
Despite being rivals of each other, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Moto Razr 2022 have several similar features. The main folding display on both phones is a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED panel. They are also powered by the same Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. However, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 uses an LTPO panel with a 120Hz refresh rate (1Hz to 120Hz), whereas the Razr 2022 has a 144Hz refresh rate and support for DC dimming.
In addition, with respect to cover display on both the foldable refreshes at 60Hz, although they are of different sizes. The Flip 4 is a 1.9-inch 260 x 512 Super AMOLED panel, on the other hand, the Razr 2022 has a larger 2.7-inch P-OLED display.
Memory and Storage
Samsung Flip 4 comes in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB options, all these along with 8GB of RAM. While Motorola also offers the same storage configuration, the 512GB version is paired with 12GB of RAM alongside with 8GB option as well.

Camera segment
Talking about the camera then the differences extend is huge. The Razr 2022 has done essential changes with respect to its earlier model. Razr 2022 has a dual camera setup that includes a 50MP primary camera with OIS and a 13MP ultrawide angle camera. It also comes with 32MP front-facing camera that is equipped inside a punch hole on the main display.
In contrast, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 has a 12MP primary camera with OIS and a 12MP, 123-degree ultrawide angle camera. In addition to this, it also has a 10MP selfie camera. And hence Razr 2022 leads with respect to the camera segment as Motorola has done essential changes to inspire its users.
Battery and Charging capabilities
Moving further, Motorola and Samsung have bumped up the battery capacity of their foldable smartphones compared to their predecessors. The Razr 2022 offers a 3500mAh battery and support for 33W fast charging. Whereas the Galaxy Z Flip 4 has a 3700mAh battery that charges at 25W, and unlike the Razr, it has support for wireless charging. And therefore, both the phones lying side by side as the difference is not huge.
Interface and Software support
Motorola Razr 2022 and Samsung Flip 4 are based on Android 12 out of the box, having their respective UIs with One UI on the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and MYUX on the Razr 2022.
Talking about software updates then Samsung promises four years of OS upgrades and five years of security updates for its flagship phones, at the same time Motorola doesn’t have a concrete update plan for its phones.
Price tag
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 has come with a starting price of $99. And the pricing is about $100 more than the Moto Razr 2022, which starts at ¥5999 (~$890).
