Recently, the Counterpoint Research report suggested that in 2022, foldable phones will increase by 73% year-on-year to 16 million units.
The leading tech firm in the current situation is Samsung and the company is the leader with a 62% share of the folding screen mobile phone market in the first half of this year.
Now, a new report claim a different figure, according to Jacob Chen, vice president of Samsung China Taiwan, said that the Samsung is expected to ship 20 million foldable phones in 2022. Samsung has recently added up two new foldable phones the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 and improvements over their predecessors.
He also claimed that the new phones which are powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Plus first-generation processor will solve the overheating and performance-limiting issues of the previous generation.
We can’t predict any specific figure of how Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 will change the shipment mark. But yes we must see a huge change in the second half of this year.
Jacob Chen pointed out that some market research houses estimate that global shipments of foldable smartphones will reach about 11 million units this year, which is much lower than Samsung’s forecast of 20 million units.
Also, the Strategy Analytics reported that the global shipments of foldable phones will reach 75 million in 2025. But Jacob Chen emphasized that Samsung thinks this number may be reached earlier.
