Google Tensor’s third generation relied on Samsung to be work [Rumor]

It's been said that Samsung is presently in the early testing and development phase with Google of its third generation Tensor chipset

Google Tensor being the company’s first custom mobile system on chip (SoC), debuted with Pixel 6. Since it has made a strong and raw presence in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. But at the same time, it was very clear that there was a space for improvement. Whereas reportedly, a piece of info coming from the rumour mill that Tensor 2 is set for the Pixel 7 series in a few months. While it has been half of the way and the same has been done by Samsung on this third generation of Tensor. Although, as of now, all of the leaks are rumours and not taking the shape as not been revealed by either Google or Samsung officials yet.

Google Tensor’s third generation is rumoured to be working at Samsung

It’s been said that Samsung is presently in the early testing and development phase. Along with Google of its third generation Tensor chipset. However, all this info should certainly be taken with a pinch of salt, but here’s what we getting right now.

In addition to this, further, it has also been a rumour that Google is testing the third generation Tensor under the dev board namely “Ripcurrent.” As previously, it is reported that Tensor 2 is being developed under “Cloudripper.” Also, the third-gen Tensor chip apparently carries the model number S5P9865. And that too is in line with the pattern of Tensor chips. While the original Tensor chip had the model number S5P9845, and Tensor 2 is thought to be S5P9855.

Although, things are not that surprising here, as Google is associated with Samsung through at least this third generation of its own chip. Also, the original Tensor chip relied strongly on Samsung’s work with Exynos chips. It can be worth noting that the chip shares many of the Exynos 2100’s underpinnings. From components like the GPU and modem to architectural aspects like clock and power management. Therefore, Samsung is one of the few options Google currently has to work on Tensor. But certainly, it going to be more interesting when they partner with players like MediaTek or SoC giant Qualcomm.

Now, at this point in time, it is quite uncertain what improvements Tensor’s third-gen will bring practically to the table. But on the other hand, there’s a lot Google should be working on.

Talking about the connectivity performance of the first Tensor chip which lagged far behind Qualcomm’s to a great extent. And parallelly troublesome were the multiple issues with heat. The new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in devices like the OnePlus 10T and Galaxy Z Flip 4 is one of the great examples of what an efficient chip can do for smartphones Whereas the Tensor is far behind that effort. Hopefully, with the third generation, Google will definitely try to fill the gap. And try to give a similar experience on Tensor as Samsung and others that offer Qualcomm Snapdragon.

Also, it is expected that the third generation of Google Tensor would likely make its debut in the Pixel 8 series around late 2023.
