Being a master in innovation, Samsung become the trendsetter out of various features and techs out there. And following its footsteps, various OEMs are not adopting its features but also outsourcing the hardware as well. One of the finest examples of the same is Xiaomi’s recent announcement where it is declared that they going to use a 200MP camera sensor in its upcoming Xiaomi 12T Pro. This sensor is probably the ISOCELL HP1 from the South Korean tech giants.
This sensor was announced by Samsung almost a year ago but it’s not debuted yet in any of its devices. Whereas, the first smartphone using this Samsung ISOCELL HP1 camera sensor is the recently launched Motorola X30 Pro. Notably, the device launched last month in china market.
With this announcement, it is speculated that the ISOCELL HP1 camera sensor is now being made on its path to use in more coming smartphones. Recently launched Motorola’s Edge 30 Ultra is also equipped with a 200MP sensor. Now, reportedly, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun make an announcement that their upcoming flagship will also be packed with a 200MP imaging system. And after this statement, the only capable one clicks in our minds is the Samsung ISOCELL HP1. As it is only the high-end camera sensor for smartphones having 200MP resolution.
Additionally, the upcoming Xiaomi 12T Pro is predicted to use Samsung’s 200MP camera. Along with F1.69 aperture, phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and optical image stabilization (OIS). On the other hand, the Xiaomi 12T making its debut with a less advanced 108MP camera sensor from Samsung. It is to be noted that both of these devices will make their debut globally on October 4, 2022.
ISOCELL HP1 Capabilities
Talking about the capabilities then, apart from being able to capture native 200MP images. This Samsung’s ISOCELL HP1 is also equipped with capabilities of 16 in 1 pixel binning in multiple resolutions ranging from 12MP (with 2.56μm pixel size) to 50MP (with 1.28μm pixel size). It is worth remembering here that Samsung has another 200MP camera sensor on its shelves, which is the ISOCELL HP3. This was launched last June, it has the tag of the industry’s smallest pixel size at just 0.566μm. As per Samsung, it is capable to focus faster than its predecessor. Also, capture clearer HDR images as it possesses a new algorithm for stacking images.
Moreover, the upcoming Samsung flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra also uses a 200MP camera sensor. Although, multiple reports claim that it will be going to feature with new 200MP camera sensor. Notably, Samsung follows the same methodology with its 108MP camera sensors. Whereby its 108MP sensor was the ISOCELL HMX. It is later used in Xiaomi phones. When it comes to Samsung’s own Galaxy S20 Ultra then it debuted with a slightly newer ISOCELL HM1 sensor.
