Samsung Electronics: Only 89-inch micro-LED TV are produced in Q3

Samsung Electronics earlier revealed the three models of micro-LED TV. As they plan to launch the lineup this year. But as per the news coming that out of three only one model is expected to enter into mass production. The variant is an 89-inch micro-LED TV model which is set for production in Q3. While the plan for the remaining two models which are 101-inch and 114-inch remained unclear at this point in time. Additionally, this model is based on significantly improving product board method from traditional PCB to the LTPS TFT base this year.

Therefore, the company are about to enter the production of the 89-inch micro light emitting diode (LED) TV model in Q3. To be noted, the 89-inch Micro LED TV is the first in its category to alter the substrate method from being a traditional Printed circuit board (PCB) to a Glass-substrate-based, low-temperature crystalline silicon (LTPS) thin-film transistor (TFT).

Recently, Samsung also added two product lines of Micro LED displays. These two products are the Wall All-in-One and Flip Pro showcased during the InfoComm 2022 event in India.

Talking about the LTPS TFT, then it allows individual drive circuits to be utilised in micro-LEDs on smaller screens. Whereas, with the previous conventional PCB wiring board, it is tough to implement a microcircuit that supports 4K (3840×2160) resolution. While simultaneously making the micro LED screen smaller.

The South Korean tech giant, was planning initially for adding a new lineup of micro LED TVs this year. It supposes to come in three variants which are 89 inches, 101 inches and 114 inches respectively. Additionally, all three models are based on LTPS TFTs. Initially they schedule to produce 89 inches and 101 inches by May but it got postponed to Q3. The delay occurs because of the pandemic and certain yield issues that include micro LED chip supply.
