On October 16, 2022, the market research firm Omdia released the DRAM market share Q2 2022 report and according to the listing, Samsung Electronics ranked in the world’s No. 1 position in Q2 2022.
Samsung Electronics DRAM market share was counted for 43.4% and the percentage rose from 41.9% in the fourth quarter of last year to 42.7% in the first quarter of this year and 43.4% in the second quarter.
In the 2nd position, SK Hynix the second largest DRAM company counted a share of 28.1% in the second quarter, up 1 percentage point from the first quarter (27.1%).
After Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, Micron of the United States ranked third with a market share of 23.6%. Micron’s market share declined 1.2 percentage points (24.8 percent) from the first quarter.
Meanwhile, at the tech day 2022 this year, Samsung highlighted upcoming DRAM solutions such as 32Gb DDR5 DRAM, 8.5Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM, and 36Gbps GDDR7 DRAM that will bring new capabilities to the data center, HPC, mobile, gaming, and automotive market segments.
Samsung also underscored the importance of tailored DRAM solutions enhancing beyond conventional DRAM. Such as HBM-PIM, AXDIMM, and CXL which can fuel system-level innovation in better handling the explosive growth of data worldwide.
