Issue Officially Fixed: Samsung has started rolling out the new firmware update for the Galaxy Watch 4 lineup with the build number GVK4. (SM-R860/R870/R880/R890). It is currently rolling out in Korea.
Original Story: Reportedly, it has been found that the recent update to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 may cause issues with the watch. Therefore, it would be recommended that, if you haven’t installed your update yet then don’t install it now. As the same firmware has been withdrawn by Samsung itself that raises a question.
Also, this seems to be a confusing story by now. Because, on one hand, a recent Galaxy Watch 4 update has produced critical issues. While on the other hand, for the last few weeks, the watch worked without any problems. As no one reported the issue at all.
The reported firmware version ends with VI3.
Discussing the issue of the recent update then it may cause the Watch 4 (Classic) to turn on after powering off. Therefore it is advisable not to install the update if somebody is not installed it yet. Although, now the chance to do the same is quite lesser as Samsung has already withdrawn/taken back the relevant update. It is reported as the firmware version that ends with VI3.
Also, it’s about the update that smoothed out various wrinkles as soon as the big upgrade to One UI Watch 4.5. While Samsung itself now confirms in a message that it has spread via the Members app respectively.
Because the same firmware has been available in the Netherlands since mid-October, the number of affected Watch 4 copies seems small. Otherwise, the issue would have surfaced much earlier. If your watch does not start after installing the update, please contact Samsung itself. Furthermore, the company announces that it will soon offer an update with new, improved firmware.
