According to the latest report from ETNews, LG Energy Solution and Samsung SDI have revealed the list of suppliers for the mass production of 4680 batteries.
The list includes companies like LT Precision and Dongwon Systems as component suppliers for its 4680 next-generation cylindrical batteries.
The above suppliers will produce cylindrical cans for 4680 batteries and cylindrical safety components. Dongwon Systems also entered as LG Energy Solution’s cylinder partner. The company is one of the most preferable in terms of LG’s choice. Dongwon SLG Energy Solution and Samsung SDI Battery partner systems acquired the cylindrical can manufacturer, MKC, for 15.6 billion KRW.
They are also expanding their cylindrical can production capacity. They have invested 58.6 billion KRW in Asan, Chungnam to build a cylindrical can factory. New supply from LG Energy Solution is expected.
In terms of Samsung, the South Korean tech giant, Samsung SDI’s partners include Shinheung SEC and Sangsin EDP to provide casings and safety components for next-generation cylindrical batteries.
Samsung SDI’s partners developing new components to add a supply of parts may increase depending on Samsung SDI’s plan to increase the number of cylindrical batteries equipped in EVs.
