According to the latest information, Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong meets with BMW Group Chairman Oliver Zipse. After taking the position Lee Jae-yong meet for the second time since he went on a business trip to Europe in July.
According to Samsung Electronics, Lee Jae-yong met with BMW executives such as Zipse at the BMW Driving Center in Yeongjongdo, Incheon. Ahead of the business meeting, the two chiefs attended the handover of 10 BMW’s new i7, its first flagship electric car sedan, bought by some CEOs of Samsung-affiliated companies.
For your information, BMW is recalling a total of 83 electric vehicles including the BMW i4 eDrive40 and i4 M50 produced in 2022 and the iX xDrive50 and iX M60 produced in 2022-2023, citing the potential risk of battery fire.
Apart from BMW, other automakers with close ties to Samsung SDI include Volkswagen, Stellantis, Ford, Rivian and Lucid. The battery giant recently announced plans to produce next-generation cylindrical battery cells, hinting at expanding its customer base.
