At CES 2023, Samsung officially showcases a smartphone OLED screen with a brightness of up to 2000 nits with a Ultra High Dynamic Range mark (UDR 2000).
Samsung received the certification and it was cleared that OLED for smartphones is an ultra-high brightness product with a maximum brightness of 2000 nits, and has obtained “UDR 1500” and “UDR 2000” certifications respectively.
Having a higher brightness product can easily achieve a richer color expression, presenting consumers with three-dimensional and realistic picture quality. In the 2023 era, we all need a device that can have a better screen experience and for this goal, Samsung’s latest smartphone OLED screen with a brightness of up to 2000 nits will set a new experience and the brightness characteristics of smartphone screens will be better than TVs, monitors, and laptops, whether indoors or outdoors.
To improve the visibility of smartphone screens in bright outdoor environments during the day, Samsung Display has improved the brightness characteristics of the display while maintaining power consumption or energy efficiency of organic materials.
At the same CES 2023, Samsung Display also shows a comparative display of image quality through UDR-certified smartphones, reflecting the image quality of Samsung OLED.
“The brightness of a display is a factor that has a great influence on the consumer experience of smartphone image quality and performance,” said Hojung Lee, Head of Product Planning Team for Small and Medium-sized Display Division at Samsung Display. “With its distinctive technology and business experience in the OLED field, Samsung Display will continue to lead the market with differentiated products based on consumer-oriented technology.”
Meanwhile the upcoming Galaxy S23 Series – the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra will have Super AMOLED screens with up to 1,750 nits of peak brightness.
