Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, both electronics giants recently disclosed that they will have they participate in the Smart Home Standards Member Meeting of the Connectivity Standard Alliance (CSA). The same is the smart home global standard alliance to conduct at the Conrad Hotel in Seoul for four days from March 20.
Talking about this event then is a place where the CSA invites more than 500 members from respective 134 member companies. This is intended to allow them privately consult. And discuss essential technology topics for smart home implementation such as Matter Standards and data privacy. Notably, this is the first member company meeting since the CSA introduced Matter 1.0. A new connection standard was in October of last year.
In addition to this, after the announcement of Matter 1.0, the member companies will analyze the progress in the application of Matter 1.0. Whereby, the companies would discuss the strategies for companies and industry collaboration models. In contrast, they will deliberate standards as well as security policies on Matter 1.0.
Jeong Jae-Yeon, the vice president of Samsung Electronics Device platform Center, going to give an opening keynote speech. Also, in this speech, Jeong plans to focus on how SmartThings is subsequently adopting the Internet of things. Thus, to enable more customers to easily experience smart homes by installing Matter technology in the recently released SmartThings Station.
Alternatively, from LG Electronics, a keynote speech will be conveyed by Jeong Ki-Hyeon, the vice president of LG Electronics’ Platform Business Center. Whereby, Jeong will explain the vision of LG ThinQ. The same is for the commercialization of Matter and laying out a future synergy plan.
“A discussion on global smart home standards began to accelerate last year when major global home appliance companies such as Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics became chair companies,” said an LG Electronics official. He continued by saying, “The Smart Home Standards Member Meeting will have its first meeting in Korea. This shows the status of Korean companies in the IoT market.”
