- Launch the Samsung Gallery app on your phone.
- Open the picture in which you want to apply the blur effect.
- Tap on the Pencil (Edit) icon at the bottom.
- Click on the Mosaic pen to activate the blur mode. Then, tap on the same pen again to choose from various blur styles and effects.
- Tap on the blur style that you want to use. Use the Slider to increase or decrease the size of the blur pen.
- Using your finger, blur out the parts of a photo you want to hide. You can use it to blur someone out or hide some information in a photo.
- Tap on the Save button to save the image.
Note: Above steps will replace the original image with the edited image. You can also keep the original image.
METHOD 2: Steps to blur the background of a picture using the Samsung Camera app
Particularly, the Portrait mode in the Samsung Camera app facilitates you to blur the background of your picture. Whereby, there’s an option to even adjust the intensity of the blur. While simultaneously altering the blur effect by going through the preview before capturing it. The step to follow is:
- Open the Samsung Camera app on your phone.
- Scroll through the modes available at the bottom and stop on the Portrait mode.

METHOD 4: Steps to blur the background of a picture in the Samsung Gallery
If you intended to blur the background of an old photo or any received picture then the Samsung Gallery app enables you to achieve the same. Heading towards the below steps:
- Launch the Samsung Gallery app and open the picture whose background you want to blur.
- Click on the three-dot icon and select Add portrait effect from the menu.
