It is observed that in 2022, six out of the top 10 electric vehicle battery makers were Chinese companies. Specifically, China’s CATL, the company that sits in first place, holds a market share of approximately 40 percent.
As per the figure, battery sales with respect to electric vehicle battery manufacturers reached 690 GWh. This reveals recently by SNE Research which is basically a market research and consulting company. Also, the market size for battery packs records at US$125.5 billion respectively.
In particular, the battery makers that record a top ten position are responsible for 71 percent market in terms of sales. While 93 percent in terms of capacity. In the list, China’s CATL preserve its outstanding position with a market share. This performace are classified in to two aspects, the first is sales whose market share is of 27.5 percent. Whereas, the second is based on shipments which is 39.1 percent.
Going through Koeran battery manufcturer shares ground on sales then LG Energy Solutions positioned second with 12.3 percent. Whereas Samsung SDI havng 6.0 percent, and SK with 4.6 percent placed at fourth & fifth position respectively.
If talking abput shipment then LG Energy Soltions with 14.9 percent comes at second place. SK place at fifth by having 6.4 percent of shipment. And Samsung SDI achieve sixth position by having 5.2 percent of shipment rate. The aggreagate shipmet share of the three Korean battery giants are 26.5 percent. Comparatively, its 12.6 percent less than those of China’s CATL.
Japan’s Panasonic hold fourth position by having 7.1 percent share in terms of shipments. Whereas, it placed at sixth position with 3.6 percent, in terms of sales respectively. Notably, in the top ten players, three were Korean battery makers and other one Panasonic belongs to Japan. And rest all other compnies were Chinese companies.
