The upcoming Android operating system is much in controversy these days, in this criterion, we witness what actually we can expect and what will actually gonna be there. Well, now stir leads due to the documentation for Android 14 Beta 1 hints at Google bringing back location-based suggestions for loyalty cards, possibly for Google Wallet.
Google seems to put its commitment afore that it will deliver all of your digital cards in one place, including loyalty cards to the Google Wallet. While opening the app, swipe up to expand your card list, and scroll through your card list to find the right loyalty card when you’re at a store. Android 14 could introduce a solution to certain problems: location-based suggestions for wallet cards.
Android 14 may bring location-based suggestions for loyalty cards for Google Wallet
Fortunately, Google may be bringing this feature back for users on Android 14. As this feature is missing from the new Google Wallet app, so you have to launch the app and open the loyalty card yourself when you’re at a store. It cannot happen if try to even pin a loyalty card to Android’s Quick Access Wallet interface as it only supports adding payment cards, prompting some modders to take matters into their own hands. Devices that declare this feature show location-based suggestions for wallet cards provided by the default payment app.
Although Google Pay is the default payment app on most GMS Android devices, there are third-party payment apps out there, so there’s no guarantee that Google’s going to implement this in their app.
Developers have long been able to associate geographic locations with loyalty card objects in the API, and Google’s API landing pages still mention that developers can send location-based notifications for digital loyalty cards they create. Sending location-based suggestions for things like boarding passes or event tickets also makes sense, though, and I don’t see any reason why that couldn’t be done as well.
Presently this feature isn’t declared on any Pixels running Android 14. Therefore it remains a mystery when this feature will stamp up officially to the app.
