Samsung is expected to complete the construction of its Display’s new headquarters in the second half of 2024. According to the information, the new Samsung head building will be located in Asan, South Korea.
Samsung Display officially announced that it will use 20,000 tons of cement recycled from glass waste generated in the display production process. This amount corresponds to about 34% of the total cement required for the construction of new office buildings.
The Glass will be transparent, has high heat resistance, and has a constant thickness, so it is used in various industrial fields such as display substrates. The South Korean tech giant has been recycling waste glass generated in the display manufacturing process as cement since 2008. The cumulative amount of glass recycled by Samsung Display is close to 245,000 tons.
An official from Samsung Display said, “Usually, about 0.8 tons of sand is needed to produce 1 ton of glass, but 245,000 tons of sand is recycled enough to create a sandy beach comparable to Haeundae Beach in Busan.”
Meanwhile, the company is also expected to increase the efficiency of recycling waste glass with more outputs of flexible OLED panels due to less contamination in the waste glass compared to LCD panels.
