WhatsApp reveling the cross-device messaging ability of the platform that is to make a more effective user experience. The ability was long awaited as it is lack the ability to send and receive synced messages across multiple devices.
Previously, WhatsApp was questioned about not having the ability to allow users to log in on multiple devices. The messaging platforms tout heavy security with end-to-end encryption. But it will not same as it was long back.
Expending the last year brought the ability to login on to other devices like a PC with the user’s phone for a while WhatsApp is now launching the ability to use different phones with the same WhatsApp account at the same time. According to WhatsApp, users will be able to link up to four additional devices other than the original device, presumably across both Android and iOS.
This functionality needs the original device to be active. One stipulation that will be implemented is a sort of failsafe wherein if the primary device is inactive for a long period of time, all companion devices will be logged out.
Notably, the update is already being rolled out globally and soon the availability be here for everyone in some week. The company is also bringing in a new login alternative. This lets you enter your phone number for a one-time code, which will allow you to link extra devices.
