Samsung has recently started rolling out the menstrual cycle tracking update with the smartwatch’s skin temperature sensor for the Galaxy Watch 5 in several countries including Korea, Canada, Europe and the US. The update is available through the Samsung Health app.
The South Korean tech giant finally enabled the Galaxy Watch 5’s temperature sensor for better cycle tracking. Since the menstrual phase affects the basal body temperature, it can help females accurately predict their next period. For your information, the temperature sensor automatically records your basal temperature on a daily basis.
Once you receive the update on your Galaxy Watch 5 Series, you can activate the feature by enabling Cycle Tracking in Samsung Health and enabling the Predict period with skin temp option in settings.
Now, according to the Samsung Health Moderator, in addition to the menstrual cycle function, new features using the Galaxy Watch 5 temperature sensor will be provided through future device SW updates. The update schedule may be determined in consideration of service policies etc. However, the moderator hasn’t confirmed the release timeline.
