Samsung will launch the new foldable phones at the Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for next month. Ahead of the official debut, leaks and rumours have surfaced online revealing the design and specifications of the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 foldable devices.
The latest leak is now confirmed by a reliable tipster SnoopyTech. The event, set to take place in Seoul, South Korea, at the end of July, will also witness the launch of other Samsung devices including the Galaxy Watch 6, Watch 6 Classic, Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, and the Galaxy Buds 3.
Starting with the Z Fold 5, the renders look similar to its predecessor, the Fold 4. It features a vertical triple-camera setup at the rear and a centrally-located punch-hole camera cutout on the front. The interior display appears to have minimal bezels, and the volume rockers and power button are situated on the right edge.
The Z Flip 5, on the other hand, displays a distinct design from its previous model. Notably, it includes a larger cover screen. The dual-camera module on the front is now horizontally arranged. Additionally, the Z Flip 5 showcases flat sides and a central punch-hole cutout on its main display.
Regarding specifications, rumors suggest that the Fold 5 will offer a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a resolution of 2176 x 1812 pixels. The display will feature a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. Externally, it will sport a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a resolution of 2316 x 904 pixels, supporting a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Under the hood, the device will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, paired with 12GB of RAM and storage options of either 256GB or 512GB. The Fold 5 will be equipped with a 4400mAh battery and run on Android 13 with One UI 5.1.1 on top. Notably, it will have an IPX8 rating for water resistance.
In terms of camera capabilities, the Fold 5 is said to arrive with a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, accompanied by a 12MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide camera and a 12MP (f/2.2) telephoto shooter. Additionally, it will feature a 4MP (f/1.0) under-display camera on the inside and a 10MP (f/2.2) selfie camera on the outside. Connectivity options will include NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and a USB-C 3.2 port. The device will support dual-SIM functionality with a nanoSIM and eSIM. It is expected to be available in Phantom Black, Cream, and Icy Blue color options. The Fold 5 will measure 6.71 cm x 15.49 cm x 1.34 cm and weigh 253 grams.
As for the Z Flip 5, reports indicate that it will feature a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED main display with a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, offering a resolution of 2640 x 1080 pixels. It will also incorporate a 3.4-inch secondary display with a resolution of 748 x 720 pixels (1-120Hz), providing quick access to notifications, music control, rear camera selfies, and more. Similar to the Fold 5, it will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
The Flip 5 is said to come with a 12MP (f/1.8) main camera alongside a 12MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide shooter on the outside, as well as a 10MP (f/2.4) selfie-camera on the inside. It will pack a 3,700mAh battery and should also run Android 13 out of the box. It will be available in 265GB and 512GB storage options.
