Samsung and the UNDP added 3 youth leaders to the Generation 17 project

Samsung Electronics and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have expanded their collaboration to increase the ‘Generation 17’ project, which aims to support the 17 ‘Global Goals’ by engaging young individuals worldwide by 2030.

According to the official information, Samsung added three new youth leaders bringing the total number of participants in ‘Generation 17′ to 17, with each leader dedicated to one of the Global Goals. These young leaders actively operate in more than 50 countries, utilizing Samsung Electronics’ latest Galaxy devices and technologies, as well as the support of the UNDP, to conduct mentoring programs.

They also take part in various global events, including the Samsung Electronics Unpacked event, the Cannes International Advertising Festival, and the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum, to raise awareness about their initiatives towards achieving the global goals.

To track the diverse activities of ‘Generation 17’, the ‘Samsung Global Goals’ app is available for users to explore. This app provides a platform for Galaxy users to actively contribute to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals. Users can directly donate or indirectly contribute by generating ad revenue through ad views within the app.

Through the ‘Samsung Global Goals’ app, a cumulative donation of $10 million was achieved by October of the previous year. These donations are being utilized to address social and environmental challenges across the globe, further advancing progress towards the attainment of the Global Goals.

“I am deeply moved by the efforts of the newly selected young people to realize a sustainable and equal future using digital technology,” said Roh Tae-moon, president of Samsung Electronics’ MX Business Division. We look forward to inspiring you to action and creating positive change.”

UNDP Secretary-General Achim Steiner said, “It is important to show the sincere actions of young people who are working hard to achieve Global Golds. We will continue to support the growth of young leaders who are working on important issues such as climate change and human rights.”

Youth leader Mock Yi Jun said, “Everyone, regardless of background or economic situation, should have the opportunity to pursue their dreams. It is a platform that helps you to become a member.”
