Samsung and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) together announced the launch of a regional hackathon to support efforts to combat climate change and advance sustainable development.
The Artificial Intelligence for Climate Change Hackathon (ACT28 AI for Climate Hackathon) aims to use artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile technologies and other leading technologies to create innovative solutions to climate change problems.
Alessandro Fracassetti, UNDP Permanent Representative in Egypt , said: “UNDP supports youth-led innovation and entrepreneurship in the climate technologies sector to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. We believe that young people can produce innovative solutions to climate change problems by using their talents and creativity in the field of technology. Among our other collaborations, the Artificial Intelligence for Climate Change Hackaton with Samsung is an excellent platform for young people in the region. “On this platform, young people can showcase their creativity and skills in developing solutions with the most advanced technologies to propose solutions to one of the greatest challenges of our age.”
Saying that Samsung, as a global technology company, is committed to protecting the planet and the climate, Samsung Electronics MENA Marketing Director Omar Saheb continued: “We are happy to partner with UNDP to motivate the new generation of leaders who are wholeheartedly committed to the fight against climate change. “Our participation in the COP28 conference and the Hackathon we are announcing here provide technical knowledge that will help young people in the region discover more effective and sustainable solutions to the world’s problems.”
