Samsung One UI has emerged with a lot of changes over the years and it consistently adds a bunch of upgrade features with each of its releases. It plays a vital role in enhancing the experience of Samsung’s modern range of phones. With an extended range of UI customizations and features on the top of Android, it certainly stands out from the rest. Out of various, one of its kind features is Samsung’s smart suggestions.
Smart suggestions
Samsung’s OneUI software can analyze, interpret and understand your smartphone usage patterns. While doing so, it recommends applications as well as actions to you in the form of smart suggestions. Since it works in exactly the same way that Apple’s Siri Suggestions work. Both of them essentially predict what you want to do and on the basis of the same. They make smart suggestions enable to streamline your experience. Notably, this has been a part of Samsung One UI for a bit sometime now. This has been initiated with the One UI 4.0 rollout, and subsequently better, especially after the One UI 5.0 and 5.1 rollouts.
Steps to enable smart suggestions
Here are the steps to enable smart suggestions on your Samsung phone running on One UI 4.0 or above:
- Open the settings app and look for Advanced features.
- Tap on the smart suggestions option and select it to expand it to a new page.
- Here it displays a toggle to enable smart suggestions along with a list of applications in which you can receive suggestions.
- Enable smart suggestions for the apps you want to them in and here you go.
Once enabled, you’ll start receiving suggestions on your Samsung device. They’re very easy to identify because they with a three-star icon next to them, as shown in the image below. These suggestions are often delivered as notifications, but you may spot them across One UI simply while browsing your phone as well. For instance, I often see these suggestions within the settings app:
After going through the above settings, enabled the feature and you will start receiving suggestions on your Samsung device. It is very easy to recognize as they depict three-star icons next to them. While these suggestions are getting in the form of notifications. At the same time, one can spot them across One UI simply by browsing your phone.
In addition to this info, the list of applications for which you can get suggestions is a bit limited. Since it’s not a feature you can use for all spans of the apps on your phone.
Now, Samsung has started rolling out the December 2023 update to its Smart Suggestions. The latest update is rolling out with the version 6.0.00.106.
