Samsung has introduced a bunch of new features on the Galaxy S24 series under the Galaxy AI umbrella. Now, Reddit user FragmentedChicken has shared all the features of Galaxy AI.
The company has confirmed that some Galaxy AI features will be available to the S23 series, Flip 5, Fold 5, and Tab S9 series within the first half of 2024.
According to an interview with TM Roh, 80-90% of the AI features will be ported. As shown in the image below, the first 13 features listed in the table are part of what Samsung calls Advanced intelligence.
- The Chat translation (Samsung Keyboard) feature supports the following messaging apps: Samsung Messages, Android Messages, Google Chat, KakaoTalk, Signal, WhatsApp, LINE, Instagram, and Tango.
- The Chat translation feature doesn’t work if you use a third-party keyboard.
- The [Writing] style (Samsung Keyboard) feature can process text faster if you select a default tone.
- The Style and grammar (Samsung Keyboard) feature can process text up to a maximum of 500 characters on-device (English and Korean only), and 1250 characters online.
- The Auto format (Samsung Notes) feature can process text between 200-2000 characters.
- The Summarize (Samsung Notes) feature can process text with at least 200 characters.
- The Correct spelling (Samsung Notes) feature can process text up to a maximum of 3000 characters.
- The Transcript assist (Samsung Voice Recorder) feature can generate transcripts from recordings up to 3 hours long, which is a limitation of the Samsung Voice Recorder app which can record for a maximum of 3 hours.
- The Transcript assist feature writes the transcript text to the m4a recording file.
- The Summaries (Samsung Voice Recorder) feature can generate summaries from transcripts that have at least 200 characters.
- The Summarize (Samsung Internet) feature can generate summaries from text with at least 201 characters.
- The Generative edit (Samsung Gallery) feature is limited to selecting and manipulating 5 objects in an image.
Language packs
There are currently 13 languages available for download, with more on the way. Each language has a male and female voice, with the exception of English (India), Hindi, Polish, Thai, and Vietnamese which only have a female voice. For voice input and speech purposes, Chinese refers to Mandarin. For text purposes, Chinese includes both Traditional and Simplified Chinese for inputs, and Simplified Chinese for outputs.

Live Translate (Samsung Phone)
Live translate converts voice input into text which is translated, and spoken with text-to-speech. This feature is dependent on the 13 downloadable language packs.
Chat translation (Samsung Keyboard)
Chat translation provides on-device translations for messages in select first and third-party apps, including Samsung Messages, Android Messages, Google Chat, KakaoTalk, Signal, WhatsApp, LINE, Instagram, and Tango. Messages are translated into the selected language, and displayed below the original text.
Style and grammar (Writing assist; Samsung Keyboard)
Writing assist consists of two features, Writing style and Spelling and grammar. Writing style rephrases text on-device or online into 5 different tones, Professional, Casual, #social, Polite, and Emojify.
Interpreter
The Interpreter app provides on-device translations during conversations. It converts voice input into text which is translated, and spoken with text-to-speech.
Auto format (Samsung Notes)
Auto format can process text between 200-2000 characters. Notes can be organized into headers and bullets, or meeting notes. Once the text is processed, there is an option to copy the output, and/or replace the text. The output can also be added to a new page above the original note, or added to a new note entirely.
Summarize (Samsung Notes)
The Summarize feature can process text with at least 200 characters. There are two summary styles available, standard, and detailed. The Summarize feature is powered by Google’s Gemini Pro.
Correct spelling (Samsung Notes)
The Correct spelling feature can process text up to a maximum of 3000 characters.
Translate (Samsung Notes)
Once the text is translated, there is an option to copy the output, and/or replace the text. The output can also be added to a new page above the original note, or added to a new note entirely.
Transcript assist (Voice Recorder)
The Transcript assist feature can generate transcripts from recordings up to 3 hours long, which is a limitation of the Samsung Voice Recorder app which can record for a maximum of 3 hours. The transcript text is written to the m4a recording file.
Summaries (Voice Recorder)
The Summaries feature can generate summaries from transcripts that have at least 200 characters. The Summaries feature is powered by Google’s Gemini Pro.
Summarize (Samsung Internet)
The Summarize feature can generate summaries from text with at least 201 characters. There are two summary styles available, standard, and detailed.
Translate (Samsung Internet)
Translate provides on-device translations of text on websites in the Samsung Internet app. The source language can be automatically detected, but it can also be manually set. While the Translate feature is active, it will continue to translate text automatically.
Generative edit (Samsung Gallery)
Generative edit processes images online in the Samsung Gallery app to provide the ability to adjust the angle of the image as well as the ability to move, remove, and/or resize objects in the image. You can also add images from the Gallery app or paste them from your clipboard.
The Generative edit feature is limited to selecting and manipulating 5 objects in an image. The gaps in the image created using these features are filled with AI. This feature is powered by Google’s Imagen text-to-image diffusion technology. Images edited with this feature are resized up to 12 MP, and include a watermark in the bottom left corner of the image and a tag “Modified with Generative edit” in the metadata to indicate the use of generative AI image manipulation. Interestingly, the tag is only visible in the Samsung Gallery app on S24 series devices.
Generative wallpaper
Generative wallpaper creates a new wallpaper from answered suggested prompts. This feature is powered by Google’s Imagen text-to-image diffusion technology.
Photo ambient wallpaper
Photo ambient wallpaper processes a selected image on-device to provide changes to the image throughout the day.
