Mr. Kim’s ‘ ultrasound tissue transparency technology ‘ is a technology that can solve these problems. Ultrasonic energy that is low enough not to affect living tissue is beamed onto the laser path to create a cloud of air bubbles, temporarily ignoring light scattering and increasing the light penetration depth.
As a student majoring in electrical and computer engineering, I encountered many difficulties while trying to research medical technology. “ During the research process, I had to cultivate melanoma cancer cells myself, but as I was not a bio major, I had difficulties handling cells, ” he said. “ But there was data accumulated through previous research, and I learned about cell culture and cell culture through seniors and juniors around me.” “The research training on handling and injection methods was of great help, ” Mr. Kim added.
Previously, he studied optical-ultrasound-related microscopy technology with support from the Samsung Future Technology Promotion Project . This study is a paper that developed the previous research into a treatment method . He said , “ While previous research has overcome the limitations of light-based imaging technology by providing high -resolution , high-illuminance images with fine tissue structural information such as cancer cells , this study has expanded the use of light-based treatment technology by enabling treatment of deeper areas.” “We have overcome the limitations, ” he said.
What led him to specifically research the field of ultrasound medical devices while majoring in electronic, electrical and computer engineering, which deals with various devices? He said, “ When I was young, my mother suffered from thyroid cancer, and while spending a lot of time with her in the hospital, I naturally developed an interest in medical devices. ”
He added, “ Ultrasound is a technology that is so harmless to the human body that it can be used on fetuses and pregnant women , and it cannot be inserted into the human body.” “ I found it attractive that both diagnosis and treatment could be used externally, ” he said.
