Corning Incorporated has officially introduced a new glass technology, Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. According to the company, this glass technology will be incorporated into the upcoming budget and mid-range smartphones for enhanced durability.
Corning Gorilla Glass 7i features
As per the company, the lab tests suggest that the new Gorilla Glass 7i survived drops of up to a meter on surfaces similar to asphalt.
This new glass technology is touted to be twice scratch-resistant compared to other glasses in the segment. Corning also revealed that OPPO will be the first smartphone brand to incorporate the Corning Gorilla Glass 7i on its devices.
In the new name, the “7” indicates it is the seventh generation of the glass, similar to their Victus line. The “i” stands for “industry-leading innovation for intermediate devices”.
