Samsung has made a change to its default SMS app in the US. For years, Samsung has pre-installed its own SMS app, Samsung Messages, on Galaxy phones and tablets. However, this has recently changed.
Now, Samsung is pre-installing Google Messages as the default SMS app on its Galaxy devices in the US. This switch began with the release of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6, both running on the One UI 6.1.1 system. Samsung’s official forum has confirmed this update.
In other regions like Canada and Europe, Samsung Messages is still pre-installed by default. Users in the US and other regions can still download Samsung Messages from the Google Play Store if they prefer.
