Due to revised strategies of production and advancing the era of manufacturing native products, Samsung has greatly devoted to producing QLED and OLED TVs. However, the panels for these models are mostly manufactured in-house. LCD panels they purchased from suppliers in Q1 2023 are the highest number of LCD panels among all the TV brands with a market share of 14% as says a recent analysis.
Lately, a market research firm Omdia post a new report ranking TV manufacturers based on the number of LCD panels they purchased from suppliers in Q1 2023, and the news isn’t all that great for Samsung. As TCL and Hisense are ranking somewhat close behind the combined market share of these two Chinese brands standing at 24%. LG comes in at fourth with a considerably less market share than Hisense.
Samsung purchasing fewer LCD panels than before
Moving in parallel to Samsung, LG also falls under the list of South Korean brands focusing more on QLED and OLED TVs. The panels for these models are mostly manufactured in-house. Both brands are launching fewer TV models with basic LCD panels as each year passes by, the panels for which are supplied by other manufacturers. Therefore these two reasons are been taken into consideration why Samsung accompanied by LG purchased fewer LCD panels from other suppliers.
TCL and Hisense are on the rise
The other Chinese brands are in the state of rising mainly focused on QLED and non-QLED TVs are two, TCL, and Hisense. Also, the two Chinese brands offer entry-level and mid-range TVs rather than high-end ones. The source of the panels for these models is from other suppliers. The special reason these brands are purchasing more LCD panels than ever before is that they are more plead the mass market, especially in emerging markets like India.
Well, not denying the fact that Samsung purchased the highest number of display panels and the fact that the company also manufactures its own display panels. It has most probably sold the highest number of TVs in Q1 2023.
